6. coffee concert
The coffee concert features music with Bohemian roots…most notably Ligeti’s extraordinary Horn Trio. Ligeti and Kurtág, met in Budapest, in 1945 having both crossed from their native Romania, in order to study with Bartok. Although Bartok never made it back to Budapest (dying that year) the two composers became lifelong friends, despite them choosing very different paths.
